  • TEEN APPLICATIONS FOR THE VIOLA DESMOND EMPOWERMENT SUP TRIP

    September 2019 Exact Dates TBD

Girls on Boards has a new trip to offer! We are taking 12 teen girls on an inspiring SUP journey to the place where Viola Desmond stood up for herself when she challenged racial segregation at a cinema in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia by refusing to leave a whites-only area of the Roseland Theatre in 1946.
This summer, I want to combine the empowering feeling of our Girls on Boards SUP Adventures with an immersive trip to the place where a great role model from our new Canadian $10 bill stood her ground and spoke up.
We're going to paddle the rivers, visit the exact site where Viola Desmond stood her ground, meet some inspiring female role models and have some great discussions and impactful experiences to help us all find our voice and find the courage to speak up in our own ways.

Girls on Boards is focused on bringing impactful experiences for teen girls to help them love their bodies, trust their core and lead the way.

We are opening up applications to all girls ages 13-19 (teens that identify as female) who are able to come with us on these dates and get their own transportation to either, Wolfville, Dartmouth or New Glasgow. We are fundraising so that cost will be FREE for 12 participants.

Application deadline: Sept 10, 2019 Qualifying participants will be chosen by Sept 12, 2019.
