    Mia

    Founder

Mia started Girls on Boards in 2017 as a mission near and dear to her heart. Her desire to build body confidence and self love through immersive recreational experiences comes from her own experience of anorexia as a young teen, then raising girls in this high pressure age and also seeing the power of healing and empowerment in our own bodies as a massage therapist for 20 years. Mia owns and works as a RMT with a specialization in RAPID Neurofascial and Matrix Repatterning at High Tide Wellness in Wolfville, NS.

    Ros

    Co-Director

Rosalind is a certified SUP instructor based out of Halifax and has been working for Girls on Boards since spring 2020. Rosalind's watersport background comes primarily from rowing, and so in her final year of her university degree at Acadia, she was excited to get involved with GOB and the sport of SUP'ing as a way to remain connected to and involved in water-based recreation in a more accessible way. Ros is excited to continue working to offer fun, inclusive, and accessible recreation opportunities for all, on the water, at the skatepark, and beyond!

    Rebecca

    Co-Director

Rebecca has always had a love for watersports from living on the Bras d'Or and working at summer camps. Prior to returning home to Cape Breton, she lived in the Scottish Highlands, where she knew a program like Girls on Boards would be perfect for girls and women throughout Sutherland and was so excited when Beth Simco and the Lairg & District Learning Centre got behind the idea. There was always a new loch to discover and being on the water was such a unique way to experience a community. Being back in Cape Breton now allows her to provide opportunities for her local community.
